Do I need a service contract to place a service call?
No, you simply give us a phone call or email, and we'll call you back and arrange the time and date of the service call.

What do you charge?
We charge $70 per hour, with only a 1 hour minimum.
For travel, we charge a $25 travel fee.

We have a virus, what do we do?
This really depends on the virus you've contracted. Some can be just a minor annoyance. Others such as Masgistr.b or Sircam, can be incredibly dangerous to your data. If you're not sure what to do, shut the system down. This gives us time to perform the repair, without the virus performing any more malicious activities, such as formatting your hard drives.

Do we need to have our own network administrator?
If you are a small business in the range of 10 to 100 users, then the answer is usually no. The cost of hiring a network administrator can set you back from 40 to over 100 thousand dollars. Compare this to a service contract which might only run you a few thousand dollars. Even large corporations are outsourcing more and more IT tasks to service companies to cut costs.

What is Linux?
Linux is an operating system developed by Linus Torvalds. It is an open source Unix based operating system. This means the source code is freely available to the general public for use.

What is CAT 5?
CAT 5 stands for Category 5 cabling. It consists of 4 pairs of twisted copper wires, terminated by RJ45 connectors. Computers connected on local area networks (LANs) are usually connected using CAT 5 cables. It is capable of supporting speeds up to 1000 Mbps.

What is a file server?
A file server is a computer with specialized hardware and software, so that it can make files available to users' requests. The files can be simple text documents, or they can be an advanced accounting database. Generally speaking, the file server is where all data is stored, and it is the single most important computer to your company.

What is spyware?
Spyware is the name given to programs that make use of your internet connection without your knowledge, and in turn "spy" on your computer. Some just track what websites you have been to, some pop up advertisements at you, and others can severely impact the performance of your computer. Some even leak sensitive data. Despite the name spyware, these programs are not illegal.

Can I get DSL on my network?
If you live in a heavily incorporated area, then obtaining signal from the dsl provider (usually your local phone company) is very simple. The most common mistake we see is a company that orders the wrong DSL package. In a business environment, you usually want to order the static IP business package. WIth only one of the few addresses you get from the provider, we can easily route the signal so that every computer on your network has internet access.

Can I setup a wireless network?
Wireless connectivity is the hot thing going these days. If you think you would benefit from wireless connectivity, then this is something for you to consider. The thing to remember with wireless, is that it can be sensitive to other radio signals, and even what is inside your building's walls.

Why is my network so slow?
There are several issues to consider when network speed is an issue. Did it ever work right? What has changed recently? Does it happen all the time? Any number of things can cause this, such as poor cabling, a bad hub, a virus, misconfigured workstations, one machine with a bad network card, or even a problem with the server.

What is TCP/IP?
TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. It is the suite of most widely used protocols on the internet today. As such, this is the default protocol with most operating systems today.
